Another Green on Blue, this time a General is killed
So first, yes, that is me above in Afghanistan. And if you look closely, the Afghan National Army guy standing next to me has a knife out. At the time it didn't concern me. But now....
An American general was killed today and 15 other soldiers wounded in an attack at a military academy in Afghanistan today.
The incident happened at Camp Qargha where Afghan military officers were being trained when a gunman wearing an Afghan army uniform turned his weapon against Americans and other Afghans, ABC News has learned.
Probably going to be a while before we get more information on this, but it is all bad.
For those curious, I only found five other generals killed in combat from WWII to OEF:
General Lesley James McNair was killed July 25, 1944 near St Lo, France by friendly fire during a pre-attack bombardment.
Admiral Isaac Kidd was killed aboard the U.S.S. Arizona during the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
General Simon Bolivar Buckner Jr was killed during the closing days of the Battle of Okinowa by enemy artillery fire.
Major General Maurice Rose was killed in Germany during WWII. He was the highest ranked Jewish officer in U.S. history, and his 3rd armored Division was the first U.S. division to cross the Siegfried line into Germany.
General Keith Lincoln Ware was the Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division. He was killed in a helicopter crash near the Cambodian border during the Vietnam War.
